Abstract

This paper contains a unified minimality theory for systems with several state space operators. It includes the theorems of minimality for time-invariant boundary value systems, for partial realization, for various classes of N-D-systems, and also for systems governed by certain partial differential equations.

Dediacted to Moshe Livšic on the occasion of his seventieth birthday, with great respect and gratitude. We owe him much of the modern understanding of the connections between operators and systems.
