Abstract
Here we present a general description of the Monte Carlo approach for solving the radiation transport equations discussed in the previous chapter. A digression is then made into the theory of quasi-Monte Carlo, which is a less widely known technique that provides a significant improvement over the standard Monte Carlo approach in problems like radiation transport. We conclude the chapter with a discussion of how ray tracing is implemented when the radiative heat transfer solver is coupled to a fluid flow simulator.
