The current role of conventional radiography and computerized tomography in temporomandibular joint treatment planning

Summary

Conventional radiography still has a place in the diagnosis and treatment planning of temporomandibular disorders. Direct sagittal computerized tomography is very effective in determining changes of condylar shape and position, and of the articular eminence. It appears to be the proper imaging modality in differential diagnostic cases in which a more extended and complex disorder is suggested but not clearly documented on conventional radiographs.
