Abstract
The Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum Berlin (ZIB) is an inter-university research institute of the state of Berlin, which operates in Mathematics and Information Technology. It was founded in 1984 as an institution incorporated under public law and was named after Konrad Zuse, a former structural engineer who constructed the first programmable computer in the world. In his work, Zuse combined the thinking of both mathematics and computer science, which has become the guiding principle of the Center.
