In the first part of this book we consider various representations and approximations of the discrete logarithm via some other functions over finite fields such as polynomials and their combinations with exponential functions (linear recurring sequences, basically) and algebraic functions (that is, via functions f(X) satisfying a polynomial equation F(X, f(X)) = 0 over a finite field).
