Füllstoffe und Streichpigmente sind die hochwertigsten Produkte aus Calciumcarbonat, die Einzigen mit wirtschaftlicher Bedeutung sind sie nicht. In zahlreichen Industrien sind heute die Schotter, Sande, Granulate, Körnungen oder Feinmehle aus Kalkgesteinen als Rohstoff unersetzbar, es gibt fast keinen Industriezweig mehr, der noch ohne Calciumcarbonat auskommt.
