Abstract

Many calcium carbonate deposits are directly usable as a source of raw materials, either as a feedstock for the production of cement or as crushed stone and aggregates, if the strength of the rock is high enough. Once the quality requirements for calcium carbonate filler are taken into account, however, the number of suitable deposits quickly reduces. Whether or not a deposit can be economically developed can only be determined by extensive prospecting.
