Abstract

Limestones are found almost throughout the whole world, but only a few of them are as easily and clearly identifiable as the soft Champagne chalk or the gleaming white Carrara marble. In many cases detailed tests are required to determine the type of carbonate rock. Some of these test methods are so simple that they can readily be carried out in the field.
