Abstract
The term “coating material” as defined in DIN EN 971–1 includes paints and other types of coating materials such as primers, surfacers, stoppers and plasters. To enable them to be described more precisely, coatings are often subdivided on the basis of the type of binder used (acrylic paints), the solvent (waterborne paints), their constitution (powder coatings) or one of many other criteria, such as film-forming, gloss or usage.
