Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to develop some basic theory to help analyse the finite dimensional modules over quantized enveloping algebras and quantized function algebras in the cases where the parameterqis a non-trivial root of unity. Our point of departure will be those fundamental ideas of PI theory which are summarised in Appendix I.13.
