Abstract
It is very difficult to find any detailed information concerning the life and scientific career of Karl Paul Theodor Friederichs, even though he is considered to be a zoologist and entomologist of great worth. He was born on 13 October 1878 at Wismar. He published a number of zoological observations (including FRIEDERICHS 1906, 1918), and became Privatdozent at the University of Rostock in 1919 and, in 1921, was appointed extraordinary professor at the same University, where he directed the Entomological Seminar in 1927. He carried on research in the Dutch Colonies from 1921 to 1924, and in 1928-1929 was guest professor at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He was appointed professor at the University of Posen in 1940 and later transferred to the University of Göttingen where he remained until 1958. In the same year he was named professor emeritus. He died in 1969.
