Abstract
We have very little biographical information about Edouard Monod-Herzen. We know that he was born in Paris on 24 December 1873 and that he obtained his diploma of “licencié ès sciences” and then that of “lauréat” of the Académie des Sciences de Paris. He himself wrote that he had had as teachers Félix Thomas for philosophy, Carlo Bourlet for the exact sciences and Frédéric Houssay for biology. He was also a good friend of the eminent writer Romain Rolland, with whom he had a constant and intense intellectual dialogue. He edited a book containing the correspondence of Romain Rolland (ROLLAND 1948).
