Abstract
Myocarditis has been described during and following a wide variety of viral, rickettsial, bacterial and protozoal diseases etc. Infectious agents cause myocardial damage by various mechanisms:
-
1
1. invasion of the myocardium
-
2
2. production of a myocardial toxin, e.g., diphtheria, and
- 3
