Abstract

In this chapter we present some basic concepts of domain decomposition for partial differential equations. We do not attempt to provide a general introduction to that area, which has undergone a dramatic development in recent years. Rather we want to focus on those methods that we view as natural candidates to be extended to optimal control problems.
