Abstract
In this chapter the different parts developed in the previous chapters are combined to a complete dam-reservoir model for the time-domain analysis. The impedance matrix, which was reduced in the last chapter using Ritz vectors, is further modified to be compatible with the subsequent approximation procedure. Then the balanced realization of Chapter 7 is applied to the modified impedance matrix yielding a time-domain system which can be coupled to the total dam-reservoir model. The time integration scheme is described briefly. The second part of the chapter gives a review of the whole procedure repeating the essential equations from previous chapters. In the last part, several examples are given ranging from simple two-dimensional geometries to three-dimensional arch dam models. The results are compared to analytical results and to results from the literature to confirm the accuracy and efficiency of the procedure.
