Abstract

In this chapter we extend the theory developed in Chapter 4 for the case of rational matrix functions which may have zeros and poles at infinity. This requires a more general realization theory and allows one to solve less restrictive interpolation problems of constructing a rational matrix function with a given null and pole structure. The special case of matrix polynomials, which may be considered as rational matrix functions with only pole at infinity, is also discussed from the point of view of the general theory. As in Chapter 4 we will restrict ourselves to standard problems only which are here also matricially homogeneous.
