Abstract

Uruguay is a small country in South America l ocated between Brazil and Argentina with a surface area of 186 000 km2 and a population of three million inhabitants. The infant mortality rate is 21.1 per thousand live births [1] and one of the important contributing factors is genetic diseases. However, general neonatal screening is not performed yet.
