Abstract

Intestinal parasitosis should be handled by specialists in preventive medicine. Nevertheless, even though we know the ideal prophylactic measures, the physicians have to treat patients. So, it is necessary that physicians have a clear knowledge of the clinical picture which each intestinal parasite may cause and, interpret laboratory results according to clinical data from their patients; they should take advantage of egg recounts to evaluate a clinical picture; finally, they must take therapeutic decisions according to the parasites that are in fact causing illness in their patients.
