Abstract

In the last few years, several new anthelmintics have been introduced, each claiming to have increased therapeutic efficacy with low toxicity. As a result, some of the older anthelmintics are found to be no longer useful in therapy of intestinal parasites. Over the last several years we have been engaged in evaluating new drugs in common helminth infections [1–6]. In this paper we are presenting our experiences with bephenium, bitoscanate, mebendazole, piperazine, dl-tetramisole, l-tetramisole and thiabendazole. Although during the individual trials different dosage schedules were tried, in the present paper we will only compare the optimum dose of each drug for a given worm species.
