Abstract
It is widely accepted today that, in many instances, cancer metastases do not occur at random, and specific organs represent the preferential target of given tumors. According to the two main theories that have been proposed to explain the organ distribution pattern of metastases, either the vascular connections of the primary tumor [1] and/or specific interactions between the malignant cells and the target organ [2] will decide the localization of metastatic colonies.
