Zusammenfassung
Als Phycomyceten sind hier jene echten Pilze zusammengefaßt, bei denen der Kopulationsvorgang in einem Zuge zu Ende geführt wird. Manche ihrer Formen zeigen morphologisch und entwicklungsgeschichtlich derartige Ähnlichkeiten mit den Algen, daß man sie häufig als chlorophyllos gewordene Algen anspricht; daher ihr Name «Algenpilze». Im Gegensatz zu den Archi-myceten ist ihr Vegetationskörper stets von einer Zellwand umgeben.
