Abstract
Mosquitoes are probably responsible for the dissemination of more diseases than any other group of arthropods. No less than a dozen important diseases including malaria, yellow fever, encephalitis, filariasis, and dengue fever are transmitted by mosquitoes. With the advent of DDT, major emphasis was logically placed on tests designed to determine the efficacy of the new compound in mosquito control. These efforts are reflected in thousands of publications on the subject, of which only a selected portion could possibly be reviewed in the present work.
