Abstract

A study of the behaviour of a species must be tied to an appreciation of the morphology, physiology and evolution that have given rise to it. In this chapter therefore, we examine the species specific characteristics of the sense organs of cattle, in order to understand their potential performance. To try to evaluate the extent to which this potential is realized, we also briefly outline the species specific characteristics of the brain.
