Abstract
Kinetics and mechanism of thermal decomposition reactions of solids cannot be interpreted by sole evaluation of thermo-analytical measurements. It is rather necessary to correlate structure, morphology and macroscopic reaction mechanism with quantities obtained from time dependent thermoanalytical experiments.
In this paper we present three decomposition processes of model compounds selected from Ni(II)-complexes with ammine ligands. The results prove that structural and morphological properties as well as experimental conditions strongly determine the course of thermal decompositions.
