Abstract
Protoplast fusion provides an opportunity to study membrane interactions during the actual fusion process as well as the fate of parental cell organelles in mixed cytoplasm. Ultrastructural information is available concerning agglutination and fusion of protoplasts and the nature of hybrids cultured for periods up to one week (reviewed in (1)). This project was undertaken to examine the structural changes which occur in hybrid cells cultured for extended periods.
