Abstract
The term “metallothionein” introduced by Kägi and Vallee in 1960 (1) has been widely accepted. As a consequence of new knowledge accruing on this protein and of the large increase in the number of investigators in the field, there have been, however, numerous departures from this terminology result-in in considerable confusion as pointed out by some authors (2).
