Abstract

The question as to the ethical aspect in man’s conduct towards other living beings can be traced back as far as the times of the hunters and collectors. The hunters gained their livelihood from the animals they captured; their cult served the purpose of securing good fortune at the hunt and of absolving the guilt which the hunter brought upon himself through the killing of the animal.
