Abstract
In PETRA the vertical beam polarization was measured using the following system: Circularly polarized photons are scattered by the electron beam. In the case of vertical polarization the vertical profile of the backscattered photons has asymmetries within an angle of 30 μrad. With such a system the degree of longitudinal polarization can also be detected whenever longitudinal polarization in the interaction region is required.
