Abstract

The moisture content at equilibrium of both PEG-treated and untreated decayed and sound pine and sound oak from the hull of the Wasa has been determined at a series of RH levels. The Polyethylene glycols (PEG) used for the treatment were PEG 600, PEG 4000 and the PEG Solution used on the hull. Some differences were noted and these may be seen from figures 1 and 2. A climate with a RH of 60% and a temperature of 20°C is recommended for the permanent museum building.
