Zusammenfassung
Die trockene Ataeama-Wüste, ein felsiger Streifen längs des Vorgebirges der Anden im Norden Chiles, ist Heimat von Taranteln und Skorpionen. Aber die knochentrockene Wüstenluft und die klaren, dunklen Nächte ziehen noch andere Besucher an. Regelmäßig pilgern Astronomen zu den Teleskopen auf den Hügeln von La Silla, Cerro Tololo und Las Campanas. Dort nehmen sie Proben von dem kostbaren Licht, das von Planeten, Sternen und Galaxien stammt.
Lodernd saß Hyperion noch auf seinem Feuerball Und atmete den Weihrauch ein, der von den Menschen Aufstieg zum Sonnengott; doch nicht sicher war er.
