Zusammenfassung
Die zur Diskussion stehenden Sätze sind diejenigen von D. Jackson, S. N. Bernstein, M. Zamansky und S. B. Steckin. Ist E n (f) die beste Approximation von f∈C 2π durch trigonometrische Polynome «-ten Grades, so schließen die direkten Sätze von Jackson von differentiellen Eigenschaften auf die Schnelligkeit, mit der E n (f) gegen Null für n→∞ geht, während die Sätze von Bernstein die umgekehrte Aufgabe lösen. Ist die Approximationsgeschwindigkeit einer beliebigen Folge von trigonometrischen Polynomen gegen f∈C 2π vorgegeben, so macht das Ergebnis von Zamansky Aussagen über das Wachstum der Ableitungen der Polynomfolge und das von Steckin Aussagen über die Konvergenz der Ableitungen gegen dieselben Ableitungen der Funktion f. (In letzterem gibt der Satz von Bernstein eine Beschränkung der Ordnung dieser Ableitungen.)
