Abstract

Very little consideration has been given to the influences of air pollution and air conservation on international economic relations. Differences in the international treatment of air pollution will surely exist. Concerning the economic measures for air conservation, the application of rules and regulations seems to have an effect. A very simplified economic model shows that internationally differing stringency of measures for air conservation can induce various international economic flows. These economic movements have ‘undesired’ ecological results, which can be avoided only by additional flanking measures.
