Abstract
The thermal analysis methods are more and more used in plaster industry:
-
1°)
for studying the thermal behaviour of the raw mineral gypsum (kinetics of decomposition, identification of impurities, determination of the temperature of formation of orthorhombic anhydrite especially in the case of synthetic gypsums, identification of hemihydrates, etc...
-
2°)
for analytical determination of the different phases which result of the thermal decomposition. The authors give some examples of the application of such methods in the following cases: determination of the mechanism of formation of α and low-pressure α hemihydrates by dehydration of gypsum (D. T.A. in autoclave), determination of the composition of industrial plasters (D. T.A. and T.G.A.) and particular. study of the quantitative determination of the amount of hemihydrates in mixtures of calcium sulphates by dilatometry.
