Numerical solutions of two phase continuous casting problem

  • Chapter
Numerical Methods for Free Boundary Problems

Abstract

We propose here a numerical scheme to solve the continuous casting problem. The scheme is based on the nonequilibrium phase relaxation to smooth the enthalpy and the characteristic finite element method to treat the convection term. After deducing some stability estimates, we prove the convergence of the scheme. Two numerical examples are reported.
