Eigenfrequencies of a viscous, incompressible fluid with a capillary free boundary

  • Chapter
Numerical Methods for Free Boundary Problems

Abstract

Oscillations of a viscous, incompressible liquid with a capillary free-boundary are studied by means of numerical techniques. Starting from the static equilibrium configuration of the system we study small oscillations of the system about this equilibrium. A finite-element discretization in conjunction with an inverse-iteration procedure is used for the calculation of the eigenmodes of the system.
