Zusammenfassung

Die Konferenz der Vereinten Nationen über Umwelt und Entwicklung, die sich zum Weltgipfel hochstilisiert hatte, endete am gleichen Punkt, an dem sie schon zu Beginn stand. Nach zehn Tagen mit Pressekonferenzen, feierlichen Spatenstichen zum Pflanzen von Bäumchen und emsigen Machenschaften hinter der Szene reisten die Diplomaten wieder nach Hause zu ihren anderen Aufgaben und die Politiker zu den nächsten Runden internationaler Gespräche. Rio machte dem Wirtschaftsgipfel von München und dem alltäglichen Kampf um Macht und Interessen von GATT und G7-Staaten Platz.
