Abstract
In their book on Intermediate Problems [W5] A. WEINSTEIN and W. STENGER give a survey on the theory of Intermediate Problems of the first kind for eigenvalueproblems of the type Ax = λx involving operators A in a class ℓ. We give a generalization of this theory to eigenvalueproblems of the type (λ2 I − λA − B)x = 0 where A, B are linear compact operators in a separable Hilbert Space and B is positiv definit.
