Summary
The basic concepts of size-distribution in the study of small particles are discussed in a rather abstract version. The conventional number- and weight-distributions are looked at from a more general point of view, making clear the relation between them and elucidating other sorts of distribution concept.
A general view of method of measurements is also described, classifying various methods into groups according to the extent of separation in the operation of measurement, so that they correspond closely to the basic concepts discussed.
