Abstract

In this paper, I plan to discuss experimental methods for measuring analyzing powers, spin correlation functions, and polarization transfer functions, with an emphasis on sources of error and techniques or precautions which minimize them. I consider this to be an extension of the excellent paper by R. Hannai), presented at the Karlsruhe conference, in the directions of a) higher spin, b) more detailed concern with the nature and magnitude of various systematic errors, and c) more attention to “higher order” experiments, i.e., to experiments in which two particles are polarized.
