Mathematics of the 19th Century

Abstract

In the 19th century, both the ideas and methods of the theory of probability, developed since the second half of the 17th century, received new incentives for further progress. These stimuli, highly differing one from another in their essence, were connected with the development of the natural sciences, with practical requirements of society and, also, with the formulation of purely mathematical problems.
