Abstract
We discuss the interplay between the apparent fundamental irreversibility of Time (“Second Law”) and Einstein’s views about Space, Time and Matter. A particular attention is given to Boltzmann’s 1897 entropic (and anthropic) fluctuation argument, leading to the idea that the “flow of time”is an emergent illusory phenomenon. The basic issue raised by Boltzmann is still the focus of active discussions in modern cosmology, that we briefly review.
