Abstract
Manasee Mishra and co-authors Barun Kanjilal and Dilip Ghosh elucidate how India’s large cadre of mainly female community health workers are denied access to opportunities for progression to leadership positions. An exploration of the historical, socio-economic, and health systems barriers to leadership is counterposed with suggestions for change.
