Abstract
Leadership in health systems is the focus of the chapter by Zahra Zeinali, more specifically at the national level where policy making and priority setting happen, the subnational level where policy is implemented, and the operational level among health workers and communities. She identifies gender stereotypes and biases, occupational segregation, pay gaps, dual burdens of professional work and childcare or household chores, and women’s lack of access to resources as factors that inhibit gender-responsive health systems.
