Abstract
The intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of the Taoyuan woodcarving craft (TWC) platform provides designers with a source of culture and creativity. Designers can retrieve, find and download resources that inspire product creativity from the platform’s portal to improve design efficiency. The woodcarving material library is an essential part of the knowledge platform. With 3D scanning and other technologies, we have restored the woodcarving patterns wholly and vividly. Standardize the size, proportion and style of the pattern to keep the woodcarving materials consistent with the original style when the design is reused. With the help of CAM technology, the materials can be directly used in production, which will help the ICH of TWC be transformed into products to promote culture’s market dissemination. This paper is one of the ICH of TWC series of research. Based on the previous results, this paper studies the practical functions and art forms related to TWC furniture and interior furnishings explores the extraction methods of auspicious culture and carries out auspicious elements modelling features are transformed and applied to new furniture product design.
