Abstract
To support human motions, wearable robots tightly interact with their human users. Besides demanding for functional assistance, user experience is of paramount importance. Remarkably, both aspects are subject to inter-individual differences and, hence, call for personalized solutions. This paper outlines how to address this challenge combining appropriate design methods, human-in-the-loop experiments, and cognitive modeling. Emphasis is put on the capabilities of the methods towards patient-specific solutions offline during design and online during operation.
