Perspectives in Business Informatics Research (BIR 2020)

Abstract

Digitalization is now influencing many sectors and services, so that partial or overall processes and the resulting products and processes are digitally displayed. The same holds true for the digitization of zoological institutions. Therefore, digitization-relevant requirements concerning the zoological institutions in the German federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (over three million visitors p.a.), were already determined with the 19 members of the umbrella association for zoos in the state (called Landeszooverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) prior to this work by applying the first step of the Digital Innovation and Transformation Process (DITP). One of the most important requirements was the acquisition of donations, which should be digitized with the help of the DITP. This paper presents our experiences in applying the second step of the DITP called Design Business. The aim was to develop a digital prototype that could be used across the different zoological institutions for the same purpose, based on customer opinions by using a usability test combined with formative and summative criteria. Therefore, this research is relevant for enterprise architects as well as IT experts and managers of institutions who are interested in the design process of mobile donation service.
