Abstract

In heterogeneous networks, mobile terminals require to be always best connected, and handover decision approaches are relevant to attain efficient mobility solutions for mobile users. However, accomplishing seamless vertical handover is complicated. This paper proposes a fuzzy logic-based vertical handover decision making to address this problem. The paper uses network simulator ns-3 along with the fuzzylite library to conduct the required performance evaluation and support the development of real-time scenarios. For the considered set up, the proposed approach is faster than rank average by 97%, prevents ping pong handovers, and enhances the overall performance.
