Abstract

In this chapter we present short characteristic of local self-government, politico administrative structure, history, current situation, main challenges and fiscal decentralization data about Poland. The core analytical part countries deliver the evaluation of the quality of local democracy, assessed on the basis of the compliance of the situation with the principle of the European Charter of Local Self-government (https://rm.coe.int/168007a088). This analysis is dominantly based on the texts of monitoring reports approved by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CoE) at its meetings.
