Abstract
This brief conclusion summarises, and synthesises, the book’s major findings, arguing that irreverence is at the heart of Shelley’s revolutionary poetic and political project. Following an account of his posthumous reputation, this chapter offers some closing remarks on the subject of Shelley’s canonicity: it is argued that Shelley’s canonisation risks him becoming part of the very establishment opposed by his radical poetry, philosophy and politics.
