Abstract

The paper focuses on the current state of economic security of the federal districts and regions of the Russian Federation. The authors built a model of an economic security system based on an index assessment. The evaluation criteria show the degree of development of economic security in five options from high to low. The assessment for federal districts and their constituent entities was carried out. The assessment indicators capture the following: population movement, life expectancy of the adult population, population education, labor potential, food security and independence, physical and economic affordability of food for the population, and the generalized level of economic security of the constituent entities of Russia. Each index is characterized by the criteria for assessing the level of economic security of regions and Russia as a whole. The developed model of economic security of the federal districts and their constituent regions includes a system of indicators based on the index approach, from which the overall level of development of the country’s economic security is formed. A graphical comparison is made of the dependence of the level of economic security and the coefficient of foreign trade on the subjects of the federation and the federal districts where direct dependence is established. Therefore, stimulating the development of foreign economic activity, both in the region and in the districts, acts as a guarantee of increasing the level of their economic security. It has been established that federal districts and regions with active foreign economic relations have a higher economic potential.
